Wisely Using Antibiotics
It is important to introduce new “friendly” bacteria whenever you take an antibiotic for any reason. Take a full dose of probiotic during antibiotic treatment and continue this for at least a week after completing the course of antibiotic. This will help keep normal bacteria in the intestines and prevent “wild type” bacteria from taking over.
If you are being treated for yeast or bacterial vaginitis you must re-introduce fresh bacteria into the vagina because the bowel flora will take too long to colonize the vagina. Get a good probiotic CAPSULE – open the capsule and introduce the powder into the vagina either with a vaginal applicator or a tampon on a daily basis while you are taking the antibiotic. Continue this once per week until the vaginal discharge is normal and the symptoms have resolved.
